JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting position has become available within the Media and Communications department of British Forces Cyprus and the Sovereign Base Areas Administration. The team are looking for a talented individual with experience using Adobe Suite, with a special emphasis on InDesign and Photoshop. The job will see the successful candidate take the lead on the design of a monthly online newspaper and produce eye-catching posters, social media posts and support numerous media campaigns across the Bases – with an emphasis on Community and Internal Comms. ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be a Cypriot National.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THE ROLE:

  • • Proven experience in Adobe Creative Suite – especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • • A very strong grasp of both spoken and written English is an essential part of this role.

  • • Experience with publishing on internet or intranet

  • • Experience in producing social media content, video or infographics

  • • Understand and translate social media analytics to better target social media campaigns.

  • • Successful candidates will be expected to undertake a 60 minute test following the interview to assess design and proof reading skills – particularly their ability to use ADOBE suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop.

  • • You must undergo and pass a security / police check. If you are found successful you will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record and a Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus.

  • • You must provide 2 professional references.

 

DESIRABLE:

  • • A good knowledge of office-based IT is needed, including Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic filing practices.

  • • Video editing skills

  • • Knowledge of SBA / Community and Military administration

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

The role provides key support to internal communication messaging for dissemination across island, in many forms of media, including social media, including designing key Media Comms products such as the Cyprus Lion and posters The post also supports the Media & Comms office management.

Priorities (list in order)

  • • Produce professional, informative design work to be understood easily by key audiences, including Blue Box posters.

  • • Administration of internal Facebook page, including carrying out regular analysis of BFC/SBAA social media.

  • • Regularly update SBA Sharepoint site with news and post announcements for BFC.

  • • Design and publish monthly newsletter The Cyprus Lion and the Internal Comms Bulletin, and post content on SBA website Media page.

Responsible for (Tasks/Duties)

Percentage (%) of time spent during the working week on each task

  • • Fulfil design briefs for M&C comms products. Assist with special projects and general duties in relation to Media Ops Duties, as agreed with line manager and SO1 Media and Comms.

  • • Update, post content. monitor and administrate Internal Facebook Page, and SBA Media & Comms webpage._Monitor and administrate Internal Facebook Group, granting access to entitled personnel and dependents.

  • • Collation of information for the weekly SBAA/BFC Bulletin.

  • • Work closely with steering groups, (as allocated), attend meetings, produce up-to-date and informative communications via posters, social media, Cyprus Lion etc.

  • • Upload news to the BFC Intranet web page and Media page on SBAA website. Post announcements on the BFC Intranet. Keep distribution lists updated. Complete a continual check on the formatting of the Media Matrix

  • • Register and regularly review the electrical equipment and accessories held in the Media office, ensuring Security Operations are in place where required. Be the point of contact for the team’s IT RFCs, be it raising, tracking, chasing etc. Manage the office IT internet connections and scanning of documentation

  • • Liaise with Akrotiri Photo Section, co-ordinate any photo support required.
