  • RYA Yachtmaster Instructor
  • RYA Shore based Instructor
  • MCA Master 200gt
  • First Aid / Fire Trained

  • RYA One Day Course provider
  • RYA Power Boat Instructor
  • Understand MOD Procurement
  • RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, Commercially Endorsed
  • Extensive Sail Experience
  • Clear Understanding of Military Ethos
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision

Brief Description of Role(14)

The Sail Branch Instructor is responsible to Manage, Develop, Instruct and Oversee Offshore Sailing Type 3 & 4 training on behalf of JSATW(C) / ATG (A) to Joint Services personnel following the RYA Syllabus and JSAT Ethos

Priorities (list in order)(16)

  • Manage Staff and Instructional Staff based at Sail Branch.
  • Facilitate Type 3 training as directed from ATG (A).
  • Manage all ashore and afloat equipment and replace as required on Service schedules.
  • Conduct 8 Type 4 Training weeks (with in qualification) to Service Personnel at sea in accordance with the RYA Scheme and 1 shore-based course per year.
  • As designated Skipper / Instructor to be responsible for the safe conduct of Sail Training Craft  (STC), the administration, control, organisation, training and safety of the personnel on Type 4 training.
  • Responsible custodian of STC to provide maintenance and day-to-day care of STC.
  • Manage and implement yearly winter refit.
  • Prepare, lead and manage Inspections from National Governing Bodies (NGB) i.e. RYA, MECAL.
  • Oversee compliances with HSE at work under the guidance of RAF Akrotiri Stn.
  • Manage all financial expenditure and procurement for the Sail Branch
