Local Administrative Officer – (LAO)



€ 10,65 per hour



Term – Time (Start date after 19 September 2019)



32 hours per week

  • Relevant administrative / clerical experience.
  • A good knowledge of office based IT is needed, including Microsoft Office packages
  • (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic filing practices.
  • The ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing is an essential part of this role.
  • You must undergo and pass Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). (To be eligible to apply for DBS you must have lived in the UK within the last 5 years for a sustained period of time).
  • You must undergo and pass as security / police check.
  • You must provide 2 professional references. (Standing requirement).

Brief Description of Role(14)

To ensure the smooth running of the school office to support the Senior Leadership Group in ensuring effective communication is maintained with parents, MOD Schools, partner agencies and other schools. To maintain the Single Central Register, the school calendar and duty travel arrangements. Ensure safe banking practice are maintained and school fund accounts are kept accurately. Maintain and monitor the appropriate administrative systems to enable the Headteacher to fulfil their responsibilities efficiently and effectively.

Priorities (list in order)(16)

  • Maintain, in conjunction with other office staff, the school data bases Maintain and monitor the appropriate administrative systems to enable the Headteacher to fulfil their responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain the diary and support scheduling of meetings
  • Maintain the Single Central Register
  • Maintain the school fund and other accounts under the supervision of the Headteacher and Budget Manager
  • Manage duty travel arrangements for all staff
  • Liaise with the other clerical staff to ensure the effective running of the office.

  • Advising the parents, answering enquiries and sending text message reminders.
  • Managing the school calendar and the Headteacher’s diary
  • Producing documents using all aspects of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc.
  • Managing accounts for sales, trips, school fund, and banking.
  • Maintain computerised records (Single Central Register) in an appropriate directory and folder.
  • Manage duty travel arrangements for all staff.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in arranging key events, e.g. Open Evening, Presentation Evening, New Parents’ Evening and attending such key events to support the Headteacher.
  • Jointly operating Integris system, retrieval of information, ad-hoc reports as required.
