ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THE ROLE:

  • The incumbent must have formal carpentry qualifications at class 2 as a minimum.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing is an essential part of this role.
  • Must have good knowledge of H&S and be fully aware of all hazards involved in a woodworking workshop environment.
  • A good knowledge of office based IT is required, including Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic filing practices.
  • Relevant administrative / clerical experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • You must undergo and pass as security / police check.
  • Be prepared to self-drive an MT vehicle (and prepared to maintain or obtain FMT600) to attend meetings across WSBA and ESBA or occasionally in the Republic of Cyprus.

Brief Description of Role

Working with the Station QM Workshops as a Class 1 Carpenter. The incumbent is expected to be able to manufacture bespoke equipment utilising different machinery and hand tools to engineering/architectural drawings and designs. In addition to this, the incumbent will be expected to perform more technical tasks such as manufacture models, mock-ups and synthetic training aids.

Priorities (list in order)

  • Manufacture bespoke items from various type of timbers using drawings and designs.
  • Operate and maintain static and hand-held woodworking machinery IAW H&S policies.
  • Care and use of woodworking tools, sharpening and grinding techniques correctly.
  • Carrying out pre-use inspections of machinery and tools IAW H&S policies
